English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Project

Salary: £31,000 pa (0.6 pro rata FTE). Flexible hours
Fixed term for the period to 31 July 2024, funded by Merton Adult Learning and subject to their continued funding.
Location: Mitcham, South-West London.

Seeking an experienced Manager for this Learn English in Merton, ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) Project.

This service is busier than ever, responding to urgent need for English provision, particularly amongst refugee networks. Your energy and commitment to the cause of changing lives through English provision is needed more than ever.

Supported by Merton Adult Learning (Merton Council) and overseen by a locally networked charity – Merton Home Tutoring Service, who have a 12-year history providing specialist ESOL and conversational English-speaking.

This Manager role acts as a single point contact to refer people to English speaking support across the borough. You need experience in ESOL provision and must be a first-class communicator with ESOL providers, partnerships, volunteers and of course, learners.

You will assess the English levels of learners and will support and guide them to enrolment stage, followed up with excellent co-ordination and administration. You need to be a strong self-manager who enjoys being people facing in different locations; with a willingness and adaptability to build strong networks in the London borough of Merton to promote ESOL provision across the borough.
